Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie is a comedy film starring that bizarre duo Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim (Tim & Eric's Awesome Show, Great Job and Tom Goes to the Mayor). This film is about Tim and Eric and how they were given one-billion dollars (that's right I said one-billion) to make a masterpiece film. Unfortunately the film is a bomb before it has as chance to hit cinemas as due to irresponsible spending and directing the film ends up being a three-minute short about a... no,no,no,no,no, I'm not going to spoil it. The owner of the company isn't too pleased and demands that Tim and Eric give him back the one-billion they were given to make the film. Later that night Tim and Eric become depressed and go on a drug bender but during a trip to the toilet they see a television ad that could help them get out of debt. The television ad is for a position as boss of a mall and promising that the job will earn them one-billion dollars. They waste no time and start preparing to go see about the job by changing their look and coming up with a catchy business name. Once they make it to the mall they see that the place is a complete dump full of homeless people and spoilt yogurt. They agree to run the place and now it is up to them to save the mall. Will Tim and Eric turn this place from "dump" to "greatest mall on Earth"? Will they find that they have a really "Great Job" or will it all be for nothing? I was a bit worried when I found out what this film was about as it sounded like something that could be ruined very easily due to how generic it sounds. This wasn't the case thank goodness as what we got was a very entertaining story that is executed on the big screen much better than what it sounds like on paper. There were some scenes in this film that I found a bit bland like the scenes where the company takes Tim and Eric's mothers hostage. The humor in this film is a "so bad it's good" styled comedy film that blends in both "light hearted" and "dark" comedy and it worked really well with nearly every scene giving me quite a few laughs. The film also uses a mixture of psychedelic and public access TV styles to tell some of their jokes and like the rest of the styles they have it works really well. However I must warn those with weak stomachs as some of the jokes in this film are quite disgusting to the point of being disturbing so I wouldn't recommend this for the kids, elderly, or the slightly squeamish. Characters in this film have a very childish charm to them so not only will you laugh at/with them but you'll also have those moments when you go "Aww". Acting is decent, I wouldn't say it's the greatest in the world but it is very charming and it worked well and really added to the characters. Music soundtrack works with the film really well which really adds to the comedy and atmosphere also.
Special features are packed to the rafters in this dvd. What you get is an audio commentary with Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim in which you get to hear the serious side of them and they do give some solid information and trivia. You also have some hilarious deleted and extended scenes which are a must watch, also got a mocumentary which was okay, a twenty-minute interview with Tim and Eric which was decent but fillerish, a feature on the movie from HDNet which was enjoyable, the shrim promotional video stuck on an infinite loop which is just pure great and very addicting, television promos and ads, photo galleries of theatrical posters and behind the scenes photos, and both the green-band (Edited) and red-baned (Uncensored) movie trailers.
Overall I ripped my funny bone to shreds watching this film. It's funny, charming, and very, very sexy. It took me five times to watch it before I could even get to writing this review due to how much I loved it. This one is best for when you have your friends over although I wouldn't say it's for everybody. Cult classic for sure.
