DVD Review: Transformers Animated - Season Three (2009)

Posted by Retrokaiser On Tuesday, July 29, 2014 0 comments

"Transformers Animated Season Three" is the final season of one of the more modern adaptations of "The Transformers". Taking place right after the second season (check out my reviews of the prior seasons here: Season 1, Season 2) we see that some of the Transformers are battling the Decepticons to prevent them from using the space gate on Cybertron. Meanwhile on Earth we have Sari learning something special about herself that she didn't know about but her father did (I'm not going to spoil it and I'm finding it very hard not to spoil the secret as well). Sari becomes very upset and refuses to talk to her dad and moves in with the Autobots. Meanwhile back in space we have Megatron and Starscream busting out of a space prison and take over Omega Supreme so that they can plan an attack on Earth. While at a burger joint we see Sari reuniting with her father but is soon attacked by Headmaster. Optimus Prime does his best to stop Headmaster but soon after we see something very strange and scary happening with Sari that will change the great Transformers war. Oh I wonder what it could be? "Good Luck Girl! Binbogami Ga! The complete Series" is an animated comedy series about a girl named Ichiko Sakura who is young, pretty, well endowed, and extremely lucky... A bit too lucky. Meanwhile in the other realm we are introduced to Momiji who is a Poverty God and she has been assigned a mission and that mission is to suck some of Ichiko's good luck right out of her as she has way too much and it is causing an imbalance that will cause harm to the world. We also learn that Ichiko is also a bit of a terrible person as she is very selfish and refuses to give up her luck even if giving up her luck means making other people happy as she doesn't care about other people. After an accident that leaves Ichigo Sakura's butler in hospital she starts to learn that being selfish comes at a cost. This is only one of the many things that happens in this show as Momiji's quest to drain Ichiko Sakura of her overbearing good luck leads to many weird adventures. Will Momiji get lucky and complete her goal? Or will Ichiko's good luck cause more harm to the people that she loves tolerates? (Click "Read More" to read the full review).

"The Original Mr. Peabody and Sherman - The Collector's Edition" is an animated show about one very clever dog named Mr. Peabody that lives in his penthouse in Manhattan City, New York. One day while strolling down the streets of New York, Mr. Peabody spots two bullies beating up a kid with glasses and then he goes off to save the kid from trouble. Mr. Peabody ends up adopting Sherman but he soon finds out it is hard to raise a child in a small apartment.  On Sherman's birthday Mr. Peabody builds him a time machine called "The WayBac Machine" just so Sherman has places to roam around and so he can get a good education.  In this show we will see our time traveling heroes visit famous people of history including: Benjamin Franklin, Paul Revere, The Wright Brothers, Cleopatra, and many, many, many more (and I really do mean many, many, many more) people of history all wrapped up in this four-disc set. Blu-Ray Review: Princess Mononoke (1997)

Posted by Retrokaiser On Saturday, July 26, 2014 0 comments

"Princess Mononoke" is an animated drama film from those fine folks over at "Studio Ghibli". This film starts off with a prince named Ashitaka who is riding his loyal pet Elk (who looks more like an Antelope) named Yakul only to hear that their village is being attacked. What they saw attacking them was something rarely scene and that thing was a Forest God in a form of a Wart Hog but not just any Forest God as this Forest God was so corrupted with hatred that he turned into a vengeful demon. After a long hard battle they slay the demon but not without tragedy as Ashitaka suffers a burn on his right arm that mutated into a curse and he hasn't got long to live.  Ashitaka then travels afar to a forest to where he could possibly get his curse lifted.

On his journey he rescues two injured people who have fallen off a cliff from battling a Wolf God and then heals them up.  Ashitaka returns the two people home only to find out that they are iron miners that work at an iron mine.  Lady Eboshi (the boss of the mine) sends him her gratitude and shows him around. Turns out that they are mining iron from under a mountain to where Forest Gods live and the Forest Gods are not happy and plan on taking down the mine. Now Ashitaka is caught in the middle and he doesn't want both sides to fight but to live in peace instead and put this war to rest. This is sure to be a real clash of the titans. Anime Review: Nekomonogatari Black (2012) DVD/Blu-Ray Combo Pack

Posted by Retrokaiser On Thursday, July 17, 2014 0 comments

"Nekomonogatari Black" is an supernatural action show and is also the next volume of the "Bake/Nisemonogatari" series. This series is also a prequel series that takes place the year before Bakemonogatari. The show starts off with a less mature Araragi (a human that's also part vampire) talking with his youngest sister about how he has a crush on a girl that he has dubbed "Ms. H". After a long and awkward conversation they conclude that what Araragi is feeling is lust and not love as he only likes "Ms. H" for her "appealing breasts". Araragi leaves the house and runs into Hanekawa and notices that she has a bandage on her head due to her step-father beating her. Araragi wants to help but Hanekawa refuses to let him help and even begs him not to tell anyone.  Later that night while walking home he spots a weird cat girl in her underwear draining energy out of people. Araragi confronts this cat lady only to get his butt whooped and left in a puddle of his own blood and if it wasn't for his abilities he'd be dead. Araragi wakes up at Oshino's place (a dude in a Hawaiian shirt that battles demons) only to find out that the cat lady was Hanekawa possessed by a cat spirit and now they must find a way to stop the Cat Demon and save Hanekawa. Will Araragi track Hanekawa down and sent the Cat Demon to the dog pound? (Click "Read More" to read the full review).

DVD Review: Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero (2012)

Posted by Retrokaiser On Friday, July 11, 2014 0 comments

"Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero" is a very sexy animated modern day fantasy comedy series.  The show starts off with a hero named Akatsuki whom is trying to break out of the land of Alayzard and flee to a dimensional gate that will take him to Earth.  Akatsuki's trip isn't going to be easy as there is an army of maids trying to stop him from reaching the portal.  Akatsuki manages to stop the army of maids by pulling off his quick moves to steal all of their underpants and thus freezing them with humiliation.  Turns out Akatsuki isn't only a hero but is also a pervert (a very dangerous combination in my opinion).  Akatsuki manages to make it to the portal and make it to his apartment on Earth.  Akatsuki didn't come alone as in his bag that he took with him he smuggled a huge breasted girl with pink hair named Myuu in which he is the guardian of due to him keeping her fathers dying wish.  Now the two of them are pretending to be brother and sister so that no one will be suspicious of them and report them to the land of Alayzard.  They also go to a school where they gain two female friends named Chikage (the spunky teenager who is also the token anime lesbian), and Kuzuha (the token little pre-teen that has skipped several grades due to being smart).  Three girls teaming up with a perverted hero?  Well this isn't going to go well...  For the girls that is.  (Click "Read More" to read the full review).

DVD Review: Jackson 5ive (Five) - The Complete Collection (1971 - 1973)

Posted by Retrokaiser On Thursday, July 10, 2014 0 comments

"Jackson 5ive (AKA Jackson Five) - The Complete Collection" is an animated musical comedy series based on the band "The Jackson Five".  The show itself is about the fictitious life of the Jackson Five band. All of the Jackson Five are all here as you get Michael, Marlon, Jermaine, Tito, and Jackie and we see them go on crazy adventures, foil criminals, fighting over girls, and re-telling classic fairy tales and all in time right before they're late for all their big gigs.  We also see new original characters appearing in this show like Rosie (a very friendly snake whom also happens to be pink with odd colored eyes), and Ray and Charles (two pet mice who like to help the Jacksons get out of some very dangerous (no pun intended) situations).  So get ready as we are in for a show that's more exciting than learning your ABC's, 123's, and Doh-Re-Mi's.  HOOOOOOOWWWWWLLLLLL (that's the only time I'm making that reference in this review and I want it out as soon as possible).  (Click "Read More" to read the full review).

DVD Review: Hentai Kamen (2013)

Posted by Retrokaiser On Friday, July 4, 2014 1 comments

"Hentai Kamen" is an action comedy taking the piss out of both American and Japanese comic book/manga stereotypes. The film is about a high school student name Kyosuke who is a bit of a wimp and gets beaten up while trying to save people who are in danger. On one fine day at school his class gets a new transfer student named Aiko and Kyosuke instantly falls in love with her. Later that day he goes to karate class and leaves to see that there is a gang at his school taking hostages with one of them being Aiko.  Kyosuke sneaks in trying to pass off as an goon but gets spotted and after one lucky hit he grabs a disguise... Well at least he thought it was a disguise but it turns out to be a pair of female underwear.  Kyosuke becomes nervous at first as he thinks that everybody will think that he is perverted but then out of nowhere he feels a tingle in his body that makes him feel good and then he transforms into a scantly clad superhero by the name of Pervert Mask (AKA Hentai Kamen). Pervert Mask then proceeds to take out the gang the only way he knows how to... By beating them all up with his balls of steel and yes I do mean his testicles. Now Pervert Mask is a hero to all but there is an legion of evil that is trying to nuder his reputation. (Click "Read More" to read the full review).

DVD Review: Transformers Cybertron Collection One (2005)

Posted by Retrokaiser On Thursday, July 3, 2014 0 comments

"Transformers Cybertron Collection One" is the fifth volume of the epic "Unicon Trilogy" and it is also the beginning of the end as this is also the third chapter of that said trilogy. This series starts off with the Autobots fleeing their home planet Cybertron as there is a gigantic black-hole devouring neighbouring planets. In order for the Autobots to stop this black-hole they'll be needing a few items so that they can wake up Primus (Jerry was a race car driver, he was the fastest thing alive) as he is powerful enough to stop the black-hole. The items they'll need are: The Omega Lock, and four keys that are all on other planets ruled by other Transformers. Unfortunately the Decepticons are also after those items but for their own evil ways. The Autobots and Decepticons battle and eventually end up on Earth to where we are introduced to three human children named: Lori (The spunky young female with an attitude), Coby (The cool guy), and Bud (Cody's younger brother). Now the humans must team up with the Autobots to collect all of the items to save the universe from being eaten by a black-hole. (Click "Read More" to read the full review).

DVD Review: Little Busters! Season One, Part Two (2013)

Posted by Retrokaiser On Tuesday, July 1, 2014 0 comments

"Little Busters Season One, Part Two" is an animated series about a group of childhood friends dubbed "The Little Busters" going through high school and trying to find enough members for their baseball team called "The Little Busters" (For more info read my review of the first volume "here" or watch the first volume as either way is fine). In this volume we have Riki Naoe getting very worried as Mio Nishizono has gone missing and an impostor that looks just like her named "Midori" has shown up.  Riki searches all over for Mio and does that only to find out a dark secret about Midori.  Haruka Saigusa is also having problems as she is called up to the student council only to get into a fight with her twin sister. The next day Riki finds that her sister plays a malicious trick and reveals a very dark secret about Haruka's past upon the public. Lastly we have the foreign exchange studant named Kudryavka Noumi who hears the news that her mother is going on a ship to outer space but something happens last minute and Kudryavka has to run back to her old home town. All this (and more) in the final bunch of episodes of the first season of Little Busters. (Click "Read More" to read the full review).
